The Importance of Web Development and Website Design

August 7th, 2018

In order for an e-commerce website to become successful, they have to be able to attract visitors. Once they have people coming to their site they have to be able to convert them into sales. This is a lot more difficult than people think and is almost never accomplished using a basic template and a domain name. It requires a combination of creative design, web development and online marketing to make an e-commerce website successful.

The Importance of Website Designing

A template is something that someone else has written. The user of the template has no control over the code that creates the website. There could be all sorts of things that are not needed or are not helpful in the coding. The template may not help with SEO techniques and that means that people will not be able to find it when they use the search engines.

A good website designer will create a custom website that is made for the business that is being offered. It will be able to help brand a website and it can help create a corporate identity that is needed for long term success. The web designer is capable of creating site that is visually appealing and functional. It will be a site that is safe and secure and that is easy to navigate.

Most importantly the website designer will be able to utilize the best SEO tools that are at hand. They will make a website more searchable. They will make sure that the website is able to rank highly on the search engines. This will translate into more visitors to the website.

In addition a web designer can target the right group of people with their SEO tools. The leading website design in agencies will be able to add parts that will attract the locals that are more interested in what the website is offering. The goal of targeting specific groups of people is to not only bring traffic to a website, but to bring traffic that can be converted into sales.

The Importance of Website Development

A good website is a living and breathing thing. It is something that needs to be able to grow and adapt to the changes that take place in the market. It’s not something that should remain static. A website that uses a template will be more difficult to adapt to the different market. A custom website can be one that is able to change

The website development will include the marketing of the website and the addition of new content. It will make sure that the website remains fresh and that it will be something that people want to return to. A stagnant website becomes boring and old. It is not something that is visited often. A website that is always changing becomes a destination. A destination will turn into revenue in the form of loyal customers.

The website should always be evaluated to see what is working and what is not. The possibility for the need of a website remodel or a branding revamping should be planned for. The marketing plan for the website should be considered for what is working and what is not. If some of the SEO tools are not having the right impact they can be adjusted. All of this is involved in the development of the website.

It is possible to have some success using a template for a generic e-commerce website. There are plenty of people that can claim they have done just this. There are more people that can talk about the success they have had using a custom website design paying attention to the idea of website development.

Indications That Your Web Developer Is Not a Genuine Online Marketer

August 6th, 2018

Marketing online is not as easy task as it may seem. Many claim to have full knowledge of online marketing, but they don’t. There are various indications that will signal to you that your web developer is not an online marketer, but a fraud.

You should be aware of this so as to choose your web developer wisely. There are genuine firms that do a marvelous work when it comes to online marketing of your site at a fair price. However, others just want to swindle your money so they will do a quick and reckless job. This will tarnish your website’s credibility and lead to the demise of your business. Therefore, you will use even more money to get a better web developer to clean up the mess made and make your site much better.

To help you be on the lookout for such firms and fraudsters, go through the following warnings.

  1. Not once will they enquire about your business’ performance and goals that will lead to its success.
  2. Even if you outline your objectives and performance to them, they will never raise any question about them or advise on the best methods to improve them.
  3. Suppose you are not in a position to clearly state your business’ objectives, they will not give you any suggestions that will guide your decision-making. For instance, they do not know how to advise on making a reasonable budget or avoid wrong usage of money.
  4. Suppose you have a constant budget on how to use money on your site, they are unable to advice on the correct implementation of your budget or changes that you should make.
  5. They are not keen on understanding how your business operates, its target market or close competition so as to come up with effective methods to lure new customers to your online business.
  6. They are not interested in finding out your current marketing ideas so as to capitalize from them, come up with better ways to expand your business and acquire more customers.
  7. They will not discuss the issue of having your site mobile-enabled. When your site is mobile-enabled, you will lure more clients.
  8. They are not aware of the ‘call to action’ and its relevance to your site.
  9. They do not have any knowledge about SEO (search engine optimization) and do not point out that they will submit your website to the top search engines.
  10. They will insist on creating a micro-site.
  11. They are reluctant on showing their portfolio which is evidence of their previous works and successes.

Professional Web Development Can Create a Memorable Experience For Visitors

August 5th, 2018

Your Web site provides online consumers with a valuable service. A successful online presence will clearly and accurately showcase a company’s products or services to curious visitors. Make every effort to provide content that is both enjoyable and memorable. In short, your Web site should provide online visitors with a pleasant “experience”. Your design, content and marketing should be about creating a positive and noteworthy experience.

Products are made; services are delivered. Products are used; services are experienced.” – Harry Beckwith, Author

In downtown Toronto there is a legendary bagel shop, affectionately known to a few, as “The Dirty Bagel”. This title clearly distinguished it from a similar uptown restaurant named “The Bagel” which, “back in the day”, served similar meals to upper middle class women when they were not taking their children to the doctor, dentist or hockey practice.

As I recall, the downtown version was old, grimy, and well worn; while the uptown version was new, nicely lit, and… cleaner. The waitresses in the new restaurant were middle-aged, chewed gum, had pencils stuck behind their ears and called everyone “Hon.” The waitresses in the downtown version were old, spoke with thick European accents, and were “just plain nasty”. If you asked for an extra pad of butter or more cream for your coffee, instead of getting a “Sure thing Hon” you would most likely hear something like, “Sophia, listen to Mr. Big Shot over here, he wants more butter. Hope he knows a good heart doctor…” and as she turned to leave, you would likely hear some Yiddish profanity spoken under her breath.

Why would rich, privileged citizens who owned their own businesses, wore expensive silk suits, and drove Lincoln Continentals, put-up with a group of nasty old ladies who tossed plates on the table like curling stones and treated them like inmates? It was for the “experience”. That is what kept them coming back time and again.

The loyal patron businessmen who attended “The Dirty Bagel” were old school, not an MBA in the lot. They survived the Depression and built successful businesses with little or no formal business education; profiting in conditions that were both hostile and perverse. No matter how successful they had become, they always remembered their beginnings and what was really important to them. These men were characters who built businesses by force of personality and shrewd decision-making. “The Dirty Bagel” offered them an experience that kept them grounded and reminded them of the winding road to success.

That is the power of an “experience” (and a quick lesson in humility).

How does this relate to your Corporate Web Development?

Consider this. Too many web sites are sterile, functionally redundant, generally impersonal and often lack any kind of meaningful experience for the online visitor. Business owners who spend an unproductive amount of time concerning themselves with driving consumer traffic to their Web site, often discount what happens when shoppers arrive.

If your Web site provides it’s online audience with a unique experience, this is something your competition cannot steal from you. On the other hand, if all you provide your visitors is a commodity; eventually somebody else will produce that commodity cheaper and faster. If this is the case, you will very likely find yourself eating at your own version of “The Dirty Bagel”; not because you want to remind yourself of where you came from, but rather where you’re going.
